Sam Weeks is an intuitive abstract painter, based in Birmingham. Weeks paints in acrylics as their rapid drying time enables spontaneity and the building of layers of paint which she sands and scratches, revealing glimpses of what lies beneath.

Weeks recent series respond to philosophical frameworks such as Hermeticism and the Daoist practice of consulting the I Ching. Through painting, she navigates a quest for balance between the influences of head and heart, instinct and intellect.

Preferring not to impose specific interpretations of her paintings, Weeks encourages viewers to find their own emotional associations and visual touchpoints in her work; she believes art is a two way channel of communication that should actively invite personal reflection.

Weeks has representation from Seventh Circle Art & Aesthetics, Birmingham, and exhibits regularly, including an annual solo exhibition and open studios event.

In 2022, she co-founded United Artists of South Birmingham, a thriving artists’ community.
